Kentucky SBDC in London

Serving the Counties of: Adair, Casey, Clinton, Jackson, Laurel, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Wayne and Whitley

The Kentucky SBDC in London provides one-on-one coaching at no cost to existing and potential entrepreneurs in Southern Kentucky. The center also meets the educational needs of the local small business community by offering a variety of low cost training programs taught by industry experts and qualified SBDC Coaches.

Rodney joined the Kentucky SBDC in November 2019. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Public Relations and Business. Rodney has over thirty years of banking experience in assisting businesses with startup capital, operational capital, equipment financing, budgeting, financial analysis and strategic planning. He has worked with small business start-ups and large corporations in funding expansions and buyouts of existing businesses.

Rodney’s entrepreneurship experience started while he was in high school providing DJ services. Other areas of entrepreneurship has been with rental properties and a restaurant. Rodney is also an active REALTOR as well as a Life, Health, Property and Casualty insurance agent.

Rodney is active in his community as Co-Chair of Upper Cumberland Community Foundation, Board member of God’s Pantry Food Bank-Southeast, founding member of the Leadership Collective and Immanuel Baptist Church.

Rodney spends his time with family and friends camping as well as cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats in football, baseball and basketball. As a hobby he also enjoys making homemade ice cream to share.

JC joined the Kentucky SBDC in London in November 2019. An entrepreneur for over a decade, he balances both a technical knowledge of business with an experiential knowledge in new-age techniques. JC obtained his BS degree in Economics and Finance from Centre College; he also completed his MBA at the Gordon Ford College of Business at Western Kentucky University.

JC is best-known for being a digital marketer. JCP Eats, his blog, is an award-winning, nationally-recognized culinary resource with a readership in all 50 states and 93 countries. Due to this expertise, he has been a trusted consultant to local businesses, family-owned restaurants, national restaurant groups, and Fortune-500 companies on best business practices, marketing/business plans, and strategy.

JC has deep roots in South Central Kentucky, going back to Phelps Acres Farm, the family farm that was homesteaded by his ancestors in 1798 in present-day Russell County. JC continues the family tradition of both entrepreneurship and public devotion to his community and looks forward to bettering his region as a part of the KSBDC team. 

In his free time, JC is an avid foodie and traveler. His goal is to make it to 50 countries by the age of 40 and he is over 50% of the way to his goal.
