Exports grow Kentucky’s economy.
In the U.S., Kentucky ranks 11th in the for exporting on a per capita basis. That’s an impressive distinction considering Kentucky is neither a coastal or boarder state. While Kentucky is home to a number of large exporters, the majority of the state’s exporters are small and medium-sized businesses.

- Kentucky exports totaled $30.9 billion in 2017.
- In 2017, exports were 5.8% higher than in 2016.
- Kentucky ranks 17th in the nation in total exports.
- Kentucky jobs supported by exports in 2017 numbered over 140,000. 94% of these jobs were supported by manufactured goods exports. This number has increased by 26,000 jobs over past 10 years.
- Kentucky’s total exports have increased by 62.4% from 2010 to 2017.
- More than 500 Kentucky companies have international roots that represent 34 countries
- Kentucky’ 2017 exports directly created approximately 17,000 jobs
- Aerospace, Automotive, pharmaceuticals and medicines, resin and rubber, and accounted for 83.3% of Kentucky’s 2017 exports.
- 2017 top export destinations for Kentucky companies are: Canada (7.9 billion), United Kingdom (3.2 billion), France (2.9 billion), China (2.8 billion), Brazil (2.4 billion).
