Ferguson honored as 2022 Kentucky SBDC State Star

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 14, 2022) – The Kentucky Small Business Development Center recently recognized marketing specialist Ryan Ferguson as a State Star.

America’s SBDC directs state offices to award the State Star to a SBDC employee who shows exemplary performance by making a significant contribution to the SBDC program and demonstrates a strong commitment to small businesses.

Ferguson earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies from the University of Kentucky. He was a graphic artist for the Paxton Media Group in Owensboro before joining the Kentucky SBDC as a marketing specialist, where he uses his skills in graphic and layout design, social media management, email marketing and more.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Kentucky SBDC network as the 2022 State Star.” Ferguson said. “Our network includes so many hardworking and talented people from across the commonwealth, so to be acknowledged as this year’s State Star is a great privilege.”

“Ryan has proven himself to be invaluable to our office,” said Kristina Joyce, Kentucky SBDC state director. “This State Star award represents the excellence he brings to our program daily by developing communication and marketing strategies that have translated into better service for small businesses across the commonwealth, which in turn allows us to focus on helping those businesses succeed.”

As part of his recognition, Ferguson attended America’s SBDC 42nd annual conference in San Diego in September, where he participated in the State Star award ceremony.

Ferguson said he found his experience at the conference to be an incredible opportunity to meet other SBDC State Stars and to network with like-minded professionals throughout the country who value small business.
