Workshops to Help Small Businesses Secure Government Contracts

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Billions of dollars are spent each year by federal, state and local governments with outside contractors. Significant economic impact can be realized when Kentucky businesses have the opportunity to bid and win these contracts. As such, the Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government will offer workshops to educate and train small-business owners seeking to secure government contracts. All classes are free and open to the public.

“The Kentucky PTAC is continuing to strengthen the economy by providing businesses with the services and resources necessary to become competitive in government contracting,” said Dee Dee Harbut, PTAC director.

The workshops are only a part of the services PTAC offers business to help them navigate toward government contracts. The center’s goal is to support Kentucky businesses as they grow, offering relevant, current and effective consulting and training on topics pertinent to government contracting.

“LFUCG is pleased to partner with PTAC to expand class offerings for minority- and women-owned businesses,” said Marilyn Clark, LFUCG minority business enterprise liaison. “Although some of the workshops are tailored to address minority and women-owned businesses, many will be of interest to any business owner interested in government contracting. We believe stronger businesses create a stronger economy and a better community.”

A variety of upcoming workshops are scheduled in Lexington. These workshops are taught by industry professionals and will educate participants on the process of bidding and winning government contracts. Some of these workshops are scheduled specifically for women- and minority-business owners and veteran entrepreneurs.
