The DiSC is a behavior assessment tool that centers on four different behavioral or communication traits. The diSC is not who you are, it’s just how you communicate.
Communication is a very important part of day-to-day operations. Identifying how you communicate, and knowing how others communicate can help you communicate more effectively. Not all parts of a DiSC style are positive, they also have flaws and negative sides.
Four main DiSC types:
D- dominance: They are very driven, dynamic, decisive, determined, and doers.
I- influence: They are impressive, interactive, impressionable, interesting, and inspirational.
S- steadiness: They are stable, sentimental, supportive, shy, and specialists.
C- critical thinking: They are careful, contemplative, cautious, calculating, and competent.
2 Categories of DiSC Styles
- Natural – the communication that we are born with, the way we communicate when we are challenged or stressed
- Adapted- This communication style is situational. It shows a flexibility that has manifested as the result of being in a particular environment.
