Jordan used LinkedIn in simples ways to build his client base in the financial services business. He says it doesn’t have to be complicated. It just involves three simple steps.
- Post once per day, preferably in the morning. Why do we want to post once per day? If you want the cumulative effects of doing something, you have to make it a habit.
- Connect with those who engage with you. When you first start off you’re probably going to have people in your first-degree network. When it comes to second-degree connections, make sure that it’s valuable to be connected to that person. Always include a message when you send a connection request.
- Start a Conversation. LinkedIn is a treasure trove of data. You can see what you have in common with people, so just start a natural conversation.
There are a few results you’ll get from doing this. First, you’ll have an expanded network, and meet more people than you could have otherwise. On top of that, you’re going to create industry influence as people see what you do and the ways that you help people. And lastly, there’s the potential to make more sales by connecting with people who may be in need of your services.
